In some of my other artworks, such as Fabric of Space-Time, I mention how highly I regard scientists. Engineers are up there too. Designing high performance machines to execute previously unimaginable manoeuvres.

And how cool are historians. In Sapiens, Yuval Noah Harari demonstrates how genetically and psychologically modern humans are connected to our distant savannah dwelling ancestors. And postulates that our psychological program was partly shaped by a long history situated in the middle of the food chain. With the associated ever present fear of being hunted by larger predators.

There seems to be a tradition in the military to name fighter aircraft after wildlife. I’m fascinated by it. My painting Chopper depicts the “Osprey”. Many other examples exist: Falcon, Eagle, Goshawk, TomCat, TigerCat, BearCat, HellCat, Mustang, KingCobra, Raptor and so on.

Now that natural predators, like Cave Bears and Sabre-Toothed Lions are no longer a threat, are we humans biologically compelled to manufacture new high performance predators to devour our enemies?
