One of my artworks recently completed- this cool bird I saw on the cover of a book. Actually that’s not true. As a student I first saw the original Goldfinch by Carel Fabritius (1622-1654) in an exhibition of Dutch golden age paintings and have loved this mini masterpiece ever since. Seeing it on a book cover, coffee mug or mouse pad hasn’t diminished that for me. As the title states, this is an homage- using a completely different colour palette- rather than a straight copy.
