There seems to be a tradition within the military to name fighter aircraft after wildlife. I’m fascinated by it. This painting Chopper depicts the “Osprey”. Many other predatory examples exist: Falcon, Eagle, Goshawk, TomCat, TigerCat, BearCat, HellCat, Mustang, KingCobra, Raptor and so on.

Here, I’m exploring the suitability of modernist Hard-Edge Abstraction as a vocabulary to reference an atmosphere of foreboding menace associated with such aircraft.
