In this painting I’m exploring the vocabulary of modernist Hard-Edge abstract painting to allude to the atmosphere of foreboding menace felt during the Melbourne anti-vacs riots, when the state used surveillance aircraft to curtail impending disorder. Although it didn’t make an appearance at that time, this machine goes by the name Osprey. From a series of works about bird named military craft.
